Artist Bio: Randez “WEST” West II — started as a teenager in the 2000s — self taught — elusive photographic artist — inspired by jazz improvisation, boom bap rap beats, a hand full of famous painters, and a lifetime of sitting too close to the TV.
West is an active observer, making photographs that often communicate the beautiful contradictions that are everyday life.
Over the years, West has developed a discipline with photography that is akin to a master swordsman, with a camera as his sword; his work combats societal stereotypes and challenges norms, shines light in dim spaces, and stands as a beacon of hope for all “can do” spirits.
